THE HISTORY OF THE DOMINION
The Dominion is a gracious master-planned country club community composed of approximately 1500 acres located in the fastest growing northwest quadrant of San Antonio. Homes ranging from garden homes to acreage estates, designed and built by San Antonio’s most prominent architects and builders dot the rolling hillsides. Bordered by Leon Springs Creek, the development has abundant green belts and man-made lakes, creating a cool lush backdrop for family living.
A classically styled hand-carved bridge, created by famed designer Jose Luis de la Garza, spans the glistening spring creek to create the entrance into The Dominion. You will pass the Clubhouse on the left with its Italian Renaissance architecture complete with a roof-line of distinctive domes and gold-leafed cupolas. The first hole of the championship 18 hole, 260 acre golf course is on the right covering some of the most beautiful yet challenging water features and rolling hills of lush greens and fairways. This entrance sets the mood for a celebration of life, a place to live and gather that will always bring pride to its members.
The land itself has a unique history, once being owned by Anson Jones, the last president of the Republic of Texas. At the turn of the century it was purchased by the family of Adolph Toepperwein. Adolph and his wife Elizabeth shared a reputation as the greatest sharp shooting team in history and still hold a place in the Guinness’ Book of Records.
A safe family environment is made possible by two 24 hour and one 12 hour manned and gated security stations which are further enhanced by professional guards conducting round-the-clock mobile patrols. Fire and EMS protection is provided by the city and located directly across the Interstate from the entrance.
The approximately 1,500 homes of The Dominion are as diverse as their owners. Approximately 2,767 people live in The Dominion making it one of the largest Homeowner Association managed communities in Texas. Many local and national celebrities choose to call The Dominion home.
Both of the new shopping malls, The Rim and La Cantera Mall are within 7 miles. The Dominion represents the very best of two worlds. Within its boundaries, there lies a private world of unmatched luxury living with a country club at your doorstep. Yet always within easy reach via IH-10 are the metropolitan offerings of the city of San Antonio.
